ARCHES NATIONAL PARK & DEAD HORSE POINT STATE PARK

Every now and then, you've gotta get out of your comfort zone, expose yourself to adventure, and actively seek new experiences. I decided it would be fun to see Arches National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park from a new perspective...so I proceeded to hike across both parks, SOLO, in just a matter of days.

It was an incredible experience, based on the fact that it was newer terrain for me. I hadn't spent a lot of time in this desert environment, let alone a big backpacking trip. I was totally out of my league. It was hotter than I am used to, water was less obtainable than planned, no cell service, and the terrain was unnatural for me. Different wildlife was seen, and I realized I wasn't aware of how to handle certain encounters if they went bad. (Thankfully, my encounters were all positive and a reasonable distance). The heat and lack of water were the biggest challenges. I pushed myself to keep hiking even when I was out of water. I had to detour my route to get access to water...which added more miles and hours to my days.

Pushing my limits is always something I love. Can I withstand whats happening? Mentally, what am I thinking about? Is it fun?

The overall outcome was greater than expected. Check out the full video from this trip above.
