ICELAND: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE

MARCH, 2014

Iceland beckoned. I picked Iceland for the unique culture, the unknown terrain and weather, and the amazing experience I was sure to have.

Traveling to Iceland was a nightmare. We were awake for over 24 hours. Our flight lasted all day and night, and arrived in Iceland early that next morning at 6am. We didn't rest, because we had the whole day ahead of us, and we didn't want to waste the first day we were there. We set out with the mindset to experience and explore as much of Iceland as possible in the amount of time that we had. Packing up all our gear into our car, we set out on the Ring Road looking for an adventure. We drove past unique terrain, and breathtaking waterfalls. We explored and hiked up glaciers and experienced the hospitality of the people in tradidional grass cabins. We drank local beer and ate local food (shoutout to the best sheep stew I've ever had). We roamed black sand beaches and rock climbed along the ocean cliffs. I met wild horses, and overall, experienced so much that Iceland is. So many of the things that we experienced in Iceland are not talked about, not things people go to Iceland to do. Evdery mishap was worth it, every failed plan made better by a local reccomendation. Iceland is the Golden Circle, it's the Golden Destination.
